Seguimos presentando al equipo y finalmente ha llegado el turno de una parte vital del #BeeTeam, ¡Marlene Rodríguez! Como la soñadora decidida que es, hace casi 5 años se atrevió junto a Xavier Losada a abrir nuestra primera colmena #BeeBeer.
Ha estado trabajando increíblemente duro desde el principio; dedicándose a aprender sobre este mundo nuevo y emocionante, conociendo gente nueva, organizando eventos y planeando proyectos emocionantes, ¡todo mientras está constantemente probando nuevas #CervezasArtesanales! Le hicimos nuestras preguntas para conocerla mejor, y esto fue lo que nos dijo:
¿Con qué personaje o cerveza de Bee Beer te identificas más?
Con Ming Mandarín, la comandante soñadora del espacio.
¿Porque ese personaje?
Su personalidad es un balance entre lo intagible y el conocimiento, la energía del universo y la razón. Es el personaje más místico de los que tenemos hasta ahora, tiene claro su foco y no descansa hasta lograr su sueño. Además, Ming Mandarin, como producto, es un cervezón: refrescante, con un balance estupendo entre bajo amargor, las notas cítricas de la mandarina y leve dulzor.
¿Qué has aprendido en Bee Beer?
He aprendido que vivir significa HOY, que el momento es ahora. Que cada día es uno nuevo y el primero, que si no te exiges te quedas en ese mismo lugar, y es muy aburrida la monotonía.
He aprendido de la GENTE, de cada una de las personas con las que hemos compartido una cerveza en estos 5 años; de esos clientes que se han convertido en amigos, del staff de Bee Beer, de mi familia, de los aliados y hasta de los entes del gobierno que nos regulan.
Y, probablemente lo más importante, he aprendido el poder de una familia que se quiere y trabaja junta. El amor de la familia como fuerza y fuente de energía para superar cada reto.
¿A qué te has atrevido en o con Bee Beer que nunca habías hecho antes?
El mismo Bee Beer es el mayor atrevimiento, abrir, junto a mi familia, un bar a los 6 meses de haber llegado de Venezuela a España, un bar de cerveza artesanal en pleno centro de Madrid, que en el 2015 era como hablar en Chino en la ciudad, muy pocos estaban en la tendencia. Un bar en el que no servíamos vino, ni tapas; la verdad es que fue un gran atrevimiento, no solo como concepto, sino como empresa ya que ninguno tenía experiencia hostelera.
El otro gran atrevimiento fue empezar a fabricar cerveza. Xavier, mi socio y marido, venía de trabajar en la mayor empresa cervecera de Venezuela y era una tonterìa, con sus conocimientos, no empezar a hacerlo. El atrevimiento no fue fabricar la cerveza, fue cuál nos atrevimos a fabricar: Coronel Mostaza, una IPA con semillas de Mostaza, un producto fuertemente disruptivo para el mercado que apenas se iniciaba en la categoría, hoy Coronel Mostaza es un clásico que hemos llegado a enviar hasta EEUU.
¿Como ves a Bee Beer en 5 años?
Alegre, optimista, estable y joven-adulto, conservando su gran espíritu adolescente y rebelde por siempre. Veo muchos amigos y preparándonos para nuevos retos.
¿Cómo te ves tú en Bee Beer en 5 años?
Alegre, optimista, estable, conservando el espíritu rebelde y adolescente. Con más amigos y preparándome para nuevos proyectos con la marca.
Prácticamente repito la respuesta de como veo a Bee Beer en 5 años, la verdad es que nuestro primer objetivo es que quienes trabajamos en Bee Beer compartamos sus valores y repetiremos su visión.
Queremos que Bee Beer sea esa actividad que disfrutamos hacer cada día, más que el trabajo que necesitamos hacer cada día.
Por ello me veo creciendo y riendo en y con Bee Beer.

We continue to introduce the team and it’s finally the turn of a vital part of our #BeeTeam, Marlene Rodríguez! As the determined dreamer that she is, almost 5 years ago she dared with Xavier Losada to open our first #BeeBeer hive.
She’s been working incredibly hard from the beginning; dedicating herself to learning about this exciting new world, meeting new people, organizing events, and planning exciting projects, all while constantly trying new #CraftBeers! This is what she told us when we asked her our questions to get to know her better:
Which Bee Beer character or beer do you identify with the most?
With Ming Mandarin, the dreamy commander of space.
Why that character?
Her personality’s a balance between the intangible and knowledge, the energy of the universe and reason. She’s the most mystical character that we have so far, clear about her focus, and doesn’t rest until she achieves her dream. Also, Ming Mandarin, as a product, is an amazing beer: refreshing, with a great balance between low bitterness, citrus notes of mandarin, and slight sweetness.
What have you learned at Bee Beer?
I have learned that living means TODAY, that the moment is now. That every day is a new one and the first day, that if you don’t demand yourself you stay in that same place, and the monotony is very boring.
I have learned from the PEOPLE of each one of the people with whom we have shared a beer in these 5 years; of those clients who have become friends, of the Bee Beer staff, of my family, of allies, and even of the government entities that regulate us.
And, probably most importantly, I have learned the power of a family that loves each other and works together. The love of family is a strength and source of energy to overcome each challenge.
What have you dared in or with Bee Beer that you have never done before?
Bee Beer itself is the most daring, to open, together with my family, a bar 6 months after arriving in Spain from Venezuela, a craft beer bar in the heart of Madrid, which in 2015 was like speaking Chinese in the city, very few were on the trend. A bar where we didn’t serve wine or tapas; the truth is that it was a great daring, not only as a concept but as a company since none of them had any hospitality experience.
The other great daring was to start brewing beer. Xavier, my partner, and husband, came from working in the largest beer company in Venezuela and it was silly, with his knowledge, not to start doing it. The audacity was not to make the beer, it was which one we dared to make: Coronel Mostaza, an IPA with Mustard seeds, a strongly disruptive product for the market that was just starting in the category, today Coronel Mostaza is a classic that we have reached. ship to the US.
How do you see Bee Beer in 5 years?
Cheerful, optimistic, stable, and young-adult, keeping his great adolescent and rebellious spirit forever. I see many friends and preparing for new challenges.

I practically repeat the answer of how I see Bee Beer in 5 years, the truth is that our first objective is that those of us who work at Bee Beer share their values and repeat their vision.
We want Bee Beer to be that activity that we enjoy doing every day, rather than the work that we need to do every day.
That is why I see myself growing up and laughing in and with Bee Beer.
