It’s a triangle that defines a part of my transition between childhood and adolescence. A transformation that’s tragically comedic. It is not difficult to imagine Captain Haddock feeling disappointed to see his shipment of pistachios and beer, set on fire and then flooded in his cellar, nor see him taking a sip and then being surprised and enjoying the fortuitous and magnificent result while, in the background, we listen to Tom Waits reflecting (played by the pirate LeChuck, obviously) and ‘Los Fabulosos Cadillacs’ forgetting.

My fondness for baklava (especially pistachios), the recurrence of peanut used in stouts, and the myriad misunderstood versions of Salted Caramel put-your-favorite-drink-here is the organoleptic conceptual triangle of Capitán Pistacho. When I design or give a concept to an idea, I usually work with geometric figures or drawings that allow me to visualize loose or weak points in the possible final result (I apply this to music and beer as well)

In short, hours in front of 386, Tin Tin, and late nights with Black Rider in the background, nothing that the Pirates of the Caribbean saga has not been able to rescue and repack after a few years. This is my version, my reinterpretation of the convergence of those worlds in liquid, foam, salt, pistachio, and a touch of vaudeville… or rather vaudemer.

Capitán Pistacho

He went down to the cellar remembering the flames, the cracking of the wood, and the screams. The shipment of pistachio and beer for months had been lost. He was now captain of a half-burned ship and a flooded warehouse. He sat on the stairs, sinking his feet in the sea, beer, pistachio, and wood. Es un triángulo que define una parte de mi transición entre infancia y adolescencia. Una transformación que lo que tiene de trágica lo tiene de comedia. No es difícil imaginarse al Capitán Haddock sintiéndose defraudado por ver su cargamento de pistachos y cerveza, incendiado y luego inundado en su bodega, tampoco verlo dándole un sorbo para luego sorprenderse y disfrutar del fortuito y magnífico resultado mientras, de fondo, escuchamos a Tom Waits reflexionando (interpretado por el pirata LeChuck, obviamente) y a los Fabulosos Cadillacs olvidando. 

Mi afición por el baklava (en especial con pistachos), la recurrencia de uso de maní en las stouts y la infinidad de versiones incomprendidas de Salted Caramel ponga-su-bebida-favorita-aquí es el triángulo conceptual organoléptico de Capitán Pistacho. Cuando diseño o le doy concepto a alguna idea suelo trabajar con figuras geométricas o dibujos que me permitan visualizar puntos sueltos o débiles en el posible resultado final (esto lo aplico a música y a cerveza también)

En fin, horas frente al 386, Tin Tin y trasnochadas con Black Rider de fondo, nada que la saga de Piratas del Caribe no haya sabido rescatar y reempacar luego de unos años. Esta es mi versión, mi reinterpretación de la convergencia de esos mundos en líquido, en espuma, en sal, pistacho y un toque de vaudeville… o mejor dicho vaudemer.

Bajó a la bodega recordando las llamas, el resquebrajar de la madera y los gritos. El cargamento de pistacho y cerveza para meses de travesía se habían perdido. Ahora era capitán de un barco a medio quemar y una bodega inundada. Se sentó en la escalera, hundiendo sus pies en mar, cerveza, pistacho y madera.
